Frequently Asked Questions

  • In accordance with Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR 331-900-330) if the client is a minor under the age of 18, a consenting parent and/or legal guardian must be at least 18 years of age and be present at the time of the service with their government issued photographic identification and give written consent.

Soda Pop Piercing’s policy is that the parent and/or legal guardian must prove that they are in fact, the parent or legal guardian. A birth certificate, school ID or insurance card are all acceptable forms of proof.

Emancipated minors must have copies of legal court documents proving emancipation and government issued photographic identification is required.

If you have any questions please call or email us before booking your appointment.

  • Only the legal guardian can sign for a minor and legal proof is necessary upon your appointment.

  • When you initially get pierced we have to accommodate for initial swelling to ensure comfort and safety. Initially you are given a longer post (backing to the jewelry) to leave room for that initial swelling. In about 6-8 weeks we do recommend you come back so we can refit you for a smaller post that fits nice and flush to each side of your tissue. You do have to purchase a new post, but you also keep your old, longer posts for future use in case you’re in a pinch! We do recommend downsizing your piercing, as leaving the longer post past that initial swelling phase can cause irritation, as well as increase chances of snagging and therefore losing your jewelry. This visit also serves as a good check up appointment so that we can make sure everything is looking and feeling good!

  • We can not pierce with any outside jewelry as we can not ensure the quality and safety standards of anything but our own jewelry. If you ultimately want to wear the jewelry you already have when your piercings are healed, we can help you pick new placements for the jewelry you purchase with us!

  • Here at Soda Pop we only use the highest quality of jewelry out there. Our implant grade titanium jewelry is made of the same material used in pacemakers and joint replacements. Our gold alloys are the highest quality and nickel free as well!

  • The sort answer is not usually. We do have some styles available that look like “freckles” however clear is usually not possible in most cases. Please feel free to give us a call and we can figure out something that works for you!

  • We do! When getting multiple piercings done at once, we take $10 off each additional piercing fee.

  • We love a piercing party! Just make sure to let us know you’re coming so we can make sure we have enough time to service you and your group to the best of our ability. Group appointment options are listed in our booking system. We can not accommodate multiple people under an appointment that is booked for only one person, so please make sure to book the appropriate group appointment option and we look forward to seeing you all in the studio, and if you have any questions just give us a call!

  • We do! You can purchase a gift certificate online or in studio for that perfect gift for someone special.

  • While we love a daith piercing, we do want to be forth coming and transparent that there is no medical data proving that this piercing does in fact cure migraines. That being said, it’s worth a shot, and they are super cool!

  • Body jewelry is intimate so when you’re in the studio and make your selection, make sure you love it because we can not offer any returns or exchanges.

  • We want you and your piercings to be happy and for them to heal! So we do NOT recommend getting cartilage piercings on both ears at the same time. You need to give yourself a side to sleep on that doesn’t put pressure on your healing piercings. Therefore we will only perform cartilage piercings on one ear, let them heal and then do the other side. We want to protect your investment and give you the best shot at healing those beautiful new piercings!

  • Every piercing is an anatomy based piercing, meaning the anatomy has to be suitable for that piercing. Some people can’t have 3rd lobe piercings, some can’t have a rook piercing, some can’t achieve a navel piercing (and it has nothing to do with weight!) Our piercers can take a peek at the area you’d like to have pierced and let you know whether or not that is a suitable piercing for you. Believe us, we want to pierce you, but we want to give you a piercing that will actually heal and that you’ll be happy with, not one that will always give you problems and ultimately take out.

  • We recommend not submerging any healing piercing in any kind of contaminated water for the duration of the healing process. This includes rivers, lakes, pools, hot tubs, bathtubs, etc. The only things we want on your healing piercing is sterile saline and running shower water.

  • Ear curations, or ear stylings, have a wide range of cost depending on what you’d like! It’s like asking how much is a bag of groceries cost, it depends on what’s in the bag! Also keep in mind, curations usually happen slowly over time, it’s a marathon, not a race. Depending on the number of piercings you want, the jewelry you choose, the type of jewelry you’d like (as some is only for completely healed piercings) will determine what we can do in one visit. No matter what your vision, our talented team will work with you to get you to your decked out ears of your dreams!

  • We cannot pierce you if you are pregnant. While the risk of things like infection, scarring or rejection of a piercing are rare, your immune system is stressed during pregnancy and any potential adverse outcomes are just not worth the risk.

    If you are nursing the best practice is to wait at least 3 - 6 months post -partum, that your milk is no longer the baby’s main source of nutrition and they are eating some solid foods. The reasoning behind this is two fold;

First you need to give your child time to develop an immune system. While it is high unlikely that an infection could be transmitted through your breast milk, it is just not worth the risk.

Secondly, your body is working hard to recover post-pregnancy and birth. Producing breast milk is a large undertaking and your body is still doing a lot right after your baby is born and we don’t advise adding healing a new piercing to the list too soon. If you have had a C-section it’s better to err on the longer side.

So if you decide to get a new piercing while nursing this is completely at you and your child’s own risk so please weigh your decision carefully.

If you would like to get nipple piercings we suggest that you wait 3-4 months after fully weaning for them to properly heal. This is supported by La Leche League which states, “It is suggested that mothers wait until 3-4 months after weaning before getting nipple piercings as hormonal changes due to breastfeeding can affect the healing process.”

We also suggest that you remove the jewelry in existing (healed) nipple piercings when you breastfeed as the jewelry could potentially cause a choking hazard or make the baby unable to latch on properly.
